DeBary and the surrounding the St Johns River corridor area runs to mature oak and pine, with high water tables on the riverfront properties.
The riverfront has both the best canopy and the highest water tables, and those two facts interact badly in a storm — a large tree with limited rooting depth in saturated soil has very little holding it.
